Ronnie, a husband, father and artist, is considered to be a virtuoso, exceptionally skilled and regarded as one of the best in the business at his craft.He has toured all four continents from Siberia to South Africa to Japan. Ronnie is a well-respected educator who’s biography is vibrant and dynamically diverse. He has graced stages with the who’s who of jazz such as Wayne Shorter, Sonny Rollins, Pat Metheny, Jaco Pastorius, Frank Morgan, Wallace Roney, Jackie & Rene McLean, James Moody, Gary Bartz, Archie Shepp, Reggie Workman, Joe Zawinul, Cedar Walton, Wood Shaw, McCoy Tyner, and Pepper Adams. Throughout his illustrious career he has been featured on over 100 recordings.

Ronnie is known not only for his virtuoso ability with all forms of percussion, but as an innovative composer and program designer who can put together dramatic musical programs which are deeply educational and all together entertaining. “I am writing these things because I think more people need to know Ronnie Burrage, who has been on the scene, like they say, and has been saying something musically, at a very high level.” — Amiri Baraka

Chanda Burrage, Executive Director


Chanda is a wife, mother, activist, artist…  She is also a Geographer and Lecturer of African Studies at Penn State University where she also proudly served as Project Manager for the National Science Foundation CarbonEARTH program.

Prior to pursuing the PhD in Geography, she earned a Masters of International Affairs from Penn State, a Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Wayne State University and a Bachelors of Science in biology from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. Chanda has six years of experience in biomedical research as a research assistant at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine and lab assistant in Neurobiology and Anatomy at Wake Forest University.

She has traveled and worked in Nigeria, Benin, Kenya, Ethiopia and Djibouti.
